Litkey’s Lawncare is owned and operated by JR Litkey servicing all of Kenosha and Racine county since 2003. We specialize in fertilization and weed control treatments on residential or commercial properties. I perform all treatments, as well as answer calls for general questions or service issues you may have. We strive to provide the highest quality of service to our customers. I’ve always enjoyed the process of watching a malnourished weed infested lawn turn into a beautiful green lush lawn.

Litkey’s Lawncare offers a 5-step program that includes 3 granular fertilization apps and 2 liquid herbicide applications. All products used by Litkey’s Lawncare are tested and registered with the EPA and are applied by a licensed professional.

Preemergent Fertilizer
Sometimes called Crabgrass control, this is applied in the early spring. Litkey’s Lawncare will put down a granular product designed to prevent crabgrass from germinating. We also offer a post emergent liquid application for those lawns that are overrun with crabgrass. We can reduce crabgrass over a few seasons of special care resulting in a thick, dark green, crabgrass-free lawn that is well worth the patience and special care.
Fertilization
This is an essential part of a comprehensive lawn care plan. Not only is a well-fertilized lawn healthier and greener, it helps prevent weed infestation and disease.
Litkey’s Lawncare uses a 65 percent slow-release, granular fertilizer which is applied 3 times a season; early spring, midsummer and late fall/winterizer. This allows grass plants to feed over an extended period, about 6 to 8 weeks depending on the amount of moister, rather than feeding all at once. High-quality blend is made from ingredients that aid in turf growth, keep grass looking green and healthy, boost root development, and increase winter hardiness and resistance to disease and drought.
Weed Control
Programs may involve both preemergent and postemergent applications to prevent spring weed emergence. Treatments are made at peak germination periods of broadleaf weeds typically early to late spring and again later in the summer/early fall. The control product must contact leaf surface of the plant to be effective.
